product shopping portals, Amazon and eBay, has gained momentum with the acquisition of a London based startup, Rangespan. Rangespan provides backend supply chain management software for online retailers. Google has been aggressively looking at options to enhance their Google Shopping portfolio. Rangespan has been created by veterans from Amazon and helps in identifying products that are likely to have a huge demand based on real time analytics data.
A spokesperson from Google has confirmed the deal. Within the next two to three months, the Rangespan team members would be joining the Google Shopping team and look at ways to improve the functionality of Google Shopping. Rangespan shared the information of its acquisition in its web site. One of the Rangespan co-founder, Regan, remarked that Rangespan is extremely thrilled with the opportunity to work for Google Shopping. He also added
that with the acquisition, Rangespan would be winding down their stand alone services. Regan and another co-founder of Rangespan, Matt Henderson, have been at Amazon for 15 years before starting Rangespan.
RangeSpan has a high profile customer base in United Kingdom with the likes of Tesco, Staples and Argos being their customers. Using Rangespan search
